Produits \u00e0 partir du p\u00e9trole, les plastiques ont peu \u00e0 peu envahi la plan\u00e8te. Alors qu\u2019ils \u00e9taient pl\u00e9biscit\u00e9s au XX<\/span>e<\/sup><\/span> si\u00e8cle pour leurs propri\u00e9t\u00e9s extraordinaires de l\u00e9g\u00e8ret\u00e9 et de r\u00e9sistance permettant de remplacer \u00e0 moindre co\u00fbt des mati\u00e8res naturelles, les plastiques sont devenus un d\u00e9chet \u00e0 l\u2019origine d\u2019une pollution environnementale sans pr\u00e9c\u00e9dent. La production mondiale de plastiques a \u00e9t\u00e9 multipli\u00e9e par 200 en 70 ans et ne cesse d\u2019augmenter. Cette utilisation massive dans les objets et produits de consommation du quotidien a conduit \u00e0 une contamination g\u00e9n\u00e9ralis\u00e9e de notre environnement, non seulement le milieu aquatique dont les oc\u00e9ans, mais aussi l\u2019air et les sols. Si les connaissances progressent sur les impacts environnementaux, elles restent encore insuffisantes sur les expositions humaines et la sant\u00e9. Cependant, les nombreuses \u00e9tudes exp\u00e9rimentales et quelques donn\u00e9es humaines montrent que les microplastiques et les nanoplastiques passent les barri\u00e8res biologiques, y compris placentaires, et peuvent s\u2019accumuler en induisant des perturbations m\u00e9taboliques. Par ailleurs, les \u00ab\u00a0polluants \u00e9ternels\u00a0\u00bb tels que les PFAS, y sont associ\u00e9s et contaminent aussi la plan\u00e8te, la biodiversit\u00e9 et les populations humaines. Au-del\u00e0 du constat qu\u2019il faut agir en r\u00e9duisant l\u2019usage des <\/span>plastiques et l\u2019exposition des populations aux micro et nanoplastiques, des <\/span>solutions sont \u00e9tudi\u00e9es, r\u00e9utilisation et rem\u00e9diation, recyclage, ou plastiques biosourc\u00e9s.
