Alors que les hommes ont des poches int\u00e9gr\u00e9es \u00e0 leur v\u00eatement depuis au moins le 16e si\u00e8cle, les femmes ont elles des poches ind\u00e9pendantes de leur v\u00eatement qui se nouent autour de la taille sous la jupe. Extr\u00eamement grandes, ces poches d\u00e9tachables leur permettent de transporter avec elles argent, cl\u00e9s, nourriture, portraits miniatures ou correspondances secr\u00e8tes tout autant que tabati\u00e8res, microscopes portatifs ou m\u00eame dans un cas des canards vol\u00e9s \u00e0 un fermier\u2026<\/p>\n

Au croisement de l\u2019histoire mat\u00e9rielle et de l\u2019histoire du genre, l\u2019histoire des poches nous offre une mani\u00e8re originale d\u2019interroger l\u2019histoire sociale et culturelle mais aussi \u00e9conomique ou politique des femmes aux 18e et 19e si\u00e8cles.<\/p>\n

Following the canonical insertion of queer theory in academic debates, queer of colour theorisation has to sought to interrogate crossings of race, sexuality, gender, class and nation in order to produce nuanced analyses of power and privilege. Established academics and queer of colour activists have contributed to the burgeoning critique of whiteness in queer theory and hetero-centrism in people of colour (POC) activism.<\/p>

The critical genealogy of queer of colour critique explicitly draws from black and third world feminisms. This seminar considers queer of colour critique in relation to its departure from conventional accounts of queerness in our globalised times, offering a comprehensive understanding of rubrics and vocabularies of queer studies and queer of colour critique.<\/p>
