Qu\u2019est-ce que le handicap ? Quelle diff\u00e9rence fait-il ?
La question para\u00eet simple, pourtant, elle fait depuis 40 ans, l\u2019objet de d\u00e9bats. Ceux-ci ont \u00e9t\u00e9 initi\u00e9s par les chercheurs des Disability Studies, qui ont d\u00e9velopp\u00e9 le \u00ab mod\u00e8le social du handicap \u00bb ; puis, ils ont \u00e9t\u00e9 prolong\u00e9s par la sociologie de la technique, l\u2019\u00e9thique du \u00ab care \u00bb et les th\u00e9ories validistes.<\/p>\n

Cet ouvrage pr\u00e9sente ces approches et les renouvelle. Il montre que la mani\u00e8re dont chacune a socialis\u00e9 le handicap est li\u00e9e \u00e0 des hypoth\u00e8ses th\u00e9oriques sur ce qui fait diff\u00e9rence et normalit\u00e9. La question du handicap ouvre alors sur plusieurs questions : celle des in\/capacit\u00e9s, celle de l\u2019a\/normalit\u00e9 et celle des qualit\u00e9s qui singularisent chaque personne. La dimension politique de ces approches est ensuite interrog\u00e9e, d\u2019une part \u00e0 travers l\u2019histoire de la structuration de la recherche sur le handicap au Royaume-Uni et en France, d\u2019autre part, en d\u00e9crivant les diff\u00e9rents positionnements possibles du chercheur.<\/p>\n
