Cet ouvrage confronte le concept w\u00e9b\u00e9rien de charisme aux pratiques politiques antiques. \u00c0 quelles conditions peut-on parler du charisme de l\u2019oligarque, du roi, du g\u00e9n\u00e9ral, du consul, de l\u2019empereur\u00a0? Quelles \u00e9taient, dans l\u2019Antiquit\u00e9 grecque et romaine, les modalit\u00e9s concr\u00e8tes de construction et de mise en sc\u00e8ne du pouvoir charismatique ? Les contributions reviennent sur les r\u00e9flexions de Weber en les mettant \u00e0 l\u2019\u00e9preuve d\u2019\u00e9tudes de cas contextualis\u00e9es, s\u2019inscrivant dans le temps court des crises ou sur la longue dur\u00e9e. En se gardant de (re)lire toute la vie politique antique au prisme du charisme, il s\u2019agit de souligner l\u2019utilit\u00e9 de ce concept pour saisir certains pouvoirs personnels et, en retour, d\u2019\u00e9valuer l\u2019int\u00e9r\u00eat de ces cas concrets pour ajuster le concept w\u00e9b\u00e9rien. L\u2019ouvrage insiste ainsi sur l\u2019importance de la rh\u00e9torique des \u00e9motions ou de la communaut\u00e9 \u00e9motionnelle, tout en soulignant la coexistence d\u2019\u00e9l\u00e9ments charismatiques, l\u00e9gaux-rationnels et bureaucratiques.
