Ses travaux portent sur la gestion de l\u2019eau et les hydrosyst\u00e8mes en milieux arides. Vincent Viel est g\u00e9omorphologue, ma\u00eetre de conf\u00e9rences et membre de PRODIG. Penser conjointement le d\u00e9veloppement et l\u2019environnement figure parmi les grands enjeux scientifiques et soci\u00e9taux du XXIe si\u00e8cle. Ce d\u00e9fi impose un d\u00e9cloisonnement disciplinaire et un renouveau \u00e9pist\u00e9mologique pour saisir les interactions entre syst\u00e8mes biophysiques et activit\u00e9s humaines dans un contexte de changements globaux.
Cette approche est propos\u00e9e \u00e0 partir d\u2019un prisme territorial croisant \u00e9chelles d\u2019analyse et contextes, articul\u00e9 autour de divers objets g\u00e9ographiques aux Nords et aux Suds (ville, campagne, littoral, bassin versant), th\u00e9matiques (transitions \u00e9cologique, alimentaire, \u00e9nerg\u00e9tique, transport, agriculture, activit\u00e9s mini\u00e8res) et m\u00e9thodologies (approches qualitatives, quantitatives, mod\u00e9lisation, mesures in situ).
En situant les avanc\u00e9es des recherches dans un dialogue entre les disciplines de sciences sociales et de sciences naturelles au sein de diff\u00e9rents champs, dans une diversit\u00e9 de postures et de formes de savoirs, cet ouvrage fournit des cl\u00e9s de lecture de la complexit\u00e9 d\u2019un monde globalis\u00e9 aux universitaires, \u00e9tudiants ainsi qu\u2019aux acteurs de la gestion territoriale et environnementale.<\/p>\n
