Depuis plusieurs d\u00e9cennies, les d\u00e9bats politico-m\u00e9diatiques et les travaux scientifiques questionnent l\u2019int\u00e9gration des enfants de l\u2019immigration postcoloniale \u00e0 la R\u00e9publique fran\u00e7aise. Ce livre renverse la perspective en \u00e9tudiant leur sentiment d\u2019appartenance \u00e0 la nation alg\u00e9rienne. Que signifie \u00ab \u00eatre alg\u00e9rien \u00bb quand on a toujours v\u00e9cu en France, et que la connaissance de ce pays se r\u00e9duit \u00e0 de courts s\u00e9jours de vacances ?
\u00c0 partir d\u2019archives, d\u2019observations et d\u2019entretiens collect\u00e9s sur les deux rives de la M\u00e9diterran\u00e9e, cette enqu\u00eate donne \u00e0 voir comment cette binationalit\u00e9 est v\u00e9cue. Les vacances au bled font appara\u00eetre des appartenances territoriales et familiales plus \u00e9clat\u00e9es que l\u2019opposition binaire \u00ab Fran\u00e7ais\/Alg\u00e9rien \u00bb. Selon les situations, les descendants d\u2019immigr\u00e9s se jouent des cat\u00e9gorisations ethniques pour d\u00e9finir leur place. Les r\u00e9cits et exp\u00e9riences de ce sentiment d\u2019appartenance nationale varient selon les parcours de vie des descendantes et descendants d\u2019immigr\u00e9s, faisant \u00e9clater la fausse homog\u00e9n\u00e9it\u00e9 de la \u00ab deuxi\u00e8me g\u00e9n\u00e9ration \u00bb.
Ces appartenances renvoient plus largement \u00e0 un double positionnement dans des hi\u00e9rarchies de classe, de sexe et ethno-raciales en France et en Alg\u00e9rie. Les vacances au bled r\u00e9v\u00e8lent les positions sociales divergentes des enfants d\u2019immigr\u00e9s et de leur famille entre les deux soci\u00e9t\u00e9s, soulignant les dynamiques de mobilit\u00e9 sociale en migration. Dans les maisons familiales ou sur les plages, leurs statuts d\u2019enfants d\u2019ouvriers immigr\u00e9s sont rebattus \u2013 tout comme leurs r\u00f4les de genre et leurs assignations ethno-raciales.<\/p>\n
