L’Unit\u00e9 est organis\u00e9e en 4 \u00e9quipes d\u00e9veloppant des approches exp\u00e9rimentales\u00a0in vivo<\/i>,\u00a0ex vivo<\/i>,\u00a0in vitro<\/i>,\u00a0in cellulo<\/i>, et\u00a0in-silico,\u00a0<\/i>en lien \u00e9troit avec des \u00e9quipes m\u00e9dicales,\u00a0visant \u00e0 \u00e9lucider les structures g\u00e9niques et prot\u00e9iques des antig\u00e8nes de groupes sanguins, les bases mol\u00e9culaires de leurs polymorphismes et les m\u00e9canismes mol\u00e9culaires et cellulaires impliqu\u00e9s dans le cycle de vie et la circulation du globule rouge – de la production dans la moelle \u00e0 la clairance dans la rate – ainsi que dans les pathologies du globule rouge, h\u00e9r\u00e9ditaires comme la dr\u00e9panocytose ou acquises comme le\u00a0paludisme s\u00e9v\u00e8re.<\/p>\n

The works of the unit concern the clarification of the genic and protein structures of the antigens of blood groups, the molecular analysis of their polymorphisms and the understanding of the molecular mechanisms involved in certain hereditary disorders of the erythro\u00efd membrane.<\/p>\n

The unit focuses on the properties of human red blood cells (erythrocytes).
Experimental and in-silico methods are used for an integrative approach to the understanding of the interaction between extracellular ligands, transmembrane proteins and the cytoskeleton that define the antigenic properties (e.g. blood group) of erythrocytes.
These interactions are studied in normal and pathological situations (hereditary anemia, malaria, sickle-cell disease) with a particular interest in the structure and function of the plasma membrane of erythrocytes.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n
