Elle r\u00e9sulte de l\u2019interaction entre plusieurs ondes qui peuvent \u00e9changer de l\u2019\u00e9nergie entre elles. D\u2019autres champs d\u2019applications concernent notamment les plasmas magn\u00e9tis\u00e9s (vent solaires, plasmas de fusion type ITER), l\u2019optique non lin\u00e9aire, les \u00e9coulements g\u00e9o- ou astrophysiques dans les plan\u00e8tes ou les \u00e9toiles en rotation, ou les ondes gravitationnelles. La probl\u00e9matique centrale est de donner des bases solides \u00e0 la th\u00e9orie physique, dite de turbulence faible, dans ces diff\u00e9rents contextes. Ceci n\u00e9cessitera des efforts conjoints \u00e0 la fronti\u00e8re de la physique et des math\u00e9matiques, en m\u00e9canique des fluides, physique statistique, th\u00e9orie des \u00e9quations aux d\u00e9riv\u00e9es partielles ou th\u00e9orie des probabilit\u00e9s, qu\u2019ils soient de nature exp\u00e9rimentale ou th\u00e9orique. Plusieurs exp\u00e9riences sont pr\u00e9vues au laboratoire MSC (CNRS\/Universit\u00e9 Paris Cit\u00e9) o\u00f9 seront \u00e9tudi\u00e9es diverses situations pouvant conduire \u00e0 la turbulence d\u2019ondes.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left\">Le consortium est dirig\u00e9 par Jalal Shatah du Courant Institute de New York University. Outre l\u2019Universit\u00e9 Paris Cit\u00e9, le projet implique \u00e9galement des chercheurs du CNRS (INSIS et INP) de l\u2019ENS de Lyon, de l\u2019Universit\u00e9 de Nice C\u00f4te d\u2019Azur, de l\u2019Universit\u00e9 Grenoble-Alpes, et de l\u2019Universit\u00e9 Paris Sud du c\u00f4t\u00e9 fran\u00e7ais, ainsi que de l\u2019Universit\u00e9 de Princeton, du Michigan, du Massachusetts Amherst, du MIT, de UCLA, de Johns Hopkins et de Turin.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left\">Apr\u00e8s avoir \u00e9t\u00e9 financ\u00e9 quatre ann\u00e9es (2019 \u2013 2023) \u00e0 hauteur de 8 millions de dollars, le projet vient d\u2019\u00eatre prolong\u00e9 par la Simons Foundation pour trois ann\u00e9es suppl\u00e9mentaires (2023 \u2013 2026) pour un montant de 3,5 millions de dollars.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left\">Une application de ces travaux pourrait \u00eatre l\u2019am\u00e9lioration des mod\u00e8les de pr\u00e9diction de la houle \u00e0 l\u2019\u00e9chelle plan\u00e9taire.
