Logiciel, code source et ex\u00e9cutables<\/h3>\n

Logiciel<\/strong> : ensemble de codes permettant \u00e0 un utilisateur d\u2019ex\u00e9cuter un ensemble de t\u00e2ches sur son ordinateur.<\/p>\n

Code source<\/strong> : ensemble des instructions r\u00e9dig\u00e9es par un humain en langage informatique et lisibles par un humain. Traduites en code ex\u00e9cutable compr\u00e9hensible par un ordinateur, elle lui permettent d’ex\u00e9cuter un code binaire pour faire fonctionner un logiciel.<\/p>\n

Code ex\u00e9cutable<\/strong> : traduction pour l’ordinateur des instructions du code source permettant de lui faire ex\u00e9cuter le code binaire qui fait fonctionner un logiciel.<\/p>\n

Le code source est le c\u0153ur du logiciel. L’acc\u00e8s au code source est indispensable au fonctionnement, \u00e0 la compr\u00e9hension et \u00e0 la modification d’un logiciel. La p\u00e9rennit\u00e9 de l’acc\u00e8s ouvert au code source, par un archivage adapt\u00e9, est une condition n\u00e9cessaire \u00e0 la reproductibilit\u00e9 des exp\u00e9riences et \u00e0 la r\u00e9utilisation des donn\u00e9es.<\/strong> Objet d’enjeux juridiques et techniques qui d\u00e9finissent le domaine de l’open source. Le choix de codes sources ouverts ou de logiciels propri\u00e9taires au cours d\u2019un projet doit \u00eatre \u00e9valu\u00e9 sur le long terme et document\u00e9 autant que possible.<\/p>\n

Software Heritage<\/em><\/a> est un entrep\u00f4t d\u2019archive logicielle ouvert en septembre 2018 destin\u00e9 \u00e0 la collecte et \u00e0 la pr\u00e9servation du code source des logiciels.<\/p>\n

Initi\u00e9 en 2014 par Roberto Di Cosmo et Stefano Zacchiroli, soutenu par l\u2019Inria et l\u2019UNESCO, l’entrep\u00f4t archive 4,5 milliards de fichiers sources pour 83 millions de projets, notamment tous ceux de la plate-forme de d\u00e9veloppement GitHub<\/em><\/a>.<\/p>\n

Elles s’organisent autour de la collecte, de la pr\u00e9servation et du partage des codes sources publiquement disponibles, les logiciels constituant un troisi\u00e8me pilier de la Science ouverte, en lien avec les publications et les donn\u00e9es, et avec le double objectif de reproductibilit\u00e9 scientifique et de constitution d’un patrimoine num\u00e9rique de long terme :<\/p>\n
