Le 6 mai 2024, Elizabeth Macintyre, professeure d\u2019h\u00e9matologie, a invit\u00e9 les membres du bureau de direction de la Biomedical Alliance in Europe<\/em>, \u00e0 venir \u00e0 la Facult\u00e9 de Sant\u00e9 pour d\u00e9battre de l\u2019avenir de la recherche en sant\u00e9 au sein de l\u2019Union Europ\u00e9enne. Ce s\u00e9minaire, intitul\u00e9 The place of health research after the EU elections, <\/em>avait pour but de renforcer l\u2019\u00e9cosyst\u00e8me de la recherche en sant\u00e9 face aux changements politiques \u00e0 pr\u00e9voir en Europe. \u00c9taient notamment pr\u00e9sents Agn\u00e8s Buzyn, ancienne ministre de la Sant\u00e9, et Didier Samuel, pr\u00e9sident-directeur g\u00e9n\u00e9ral de l\u2019Inserm.<\/p>\n

Contexte du s\u00e9minaire sur l\u2019avenir de la recherche en sant\u00e9 de l\u2019Union Europ\u00e9enne<\/strong><\/h2>\n

En 2009, les soci\u00e9t\u00e9s savantes de recherche biom\u00e9dicale europ\u00e9ennes se sont organis\u00e9es dans la Biomedical Alliance in Europe<\/em><\/a>, afin de repr\u00e9senter d\u2019une seule voix la communaut\u00e9 de recherche m\u00e9dicale aupr\u00e8s du Parlement et de la Commission Europ\u00e9enne. La Biomed Alliance<\/em>, comme on l\u2019appelle plus rapidement, organisation \u00e0 but non lucratif, repr\u00e9sente aujourd\u2019hui 34 soci\u00e9t\u00e9s acad\u00e9miques m\u00e9dicales, qui rassemblent plus de 400 000 chercheurs et professionnels de la sant\u00e9.<\/p>\n

Il est \u00e0 pr\u00e9voir que les \u00e9lections europ\u00e9ennes de juin 2024 apportent des changements susceptibles de modifier profond\u00e9ment l\u2019\u00e9cosyst\u00e8me de la recherche en sant\u00e9. Le contexte politique devrait se polariser vers les extr\u00eames. La tendance, d\u00e9j\u00e0 sensible, de diminution des financements europ\u00e9ens d\u00e9di\u00e9s \u00e0 la sant\u00e9, devrait s\u2019intensifier, en raison de la r\u00e9orientation des cr\u00e9dits vers des domaines de recherche en lien direct avec la guerre en Ukraine. De mani\u00e8re g\u00e9n\u00e9rale, la gouvernance europ\u00e9enne et le Parlement seront renouvel\u00e9s.<\/p>\n

Dans ce contexte, Elizabeth Macintyre, ancienne Vice-Pr\u00e9sidente International de l’Universit\u00e9 Paris Cit\u00e9, ancienne pr\u00e9sidente de l\u2019European Hematology Association <\/em>(EHA), Pr\u00e9sidente de la Biomedical Alliance in Europe<\/em>, a souhait\u00e9 r\u00e9unir \u00e0 Paris les membres de son bureau, en dehors des deux r\u00e9unions annuelles de l\u2019organisation \u00e0 Bruxelles. Son objectif : ouvrir une discussion strat\u00e9gique sur l\u2019avenir de la recherche en sant\u00e9 de l\u2019Union Europ\u00e9enne, et mettre en rapport les membres de l\u2019organisation avec les principaux repr\u00e9sentants de la recherche biom\u00e9dicale en France<\/p>\n

Retour sur les d\u00e9bats \u00e0 propos de l\u2019avenir de la recherche en sant\u00e9 de l\u2019Union Europ\u00e9enne<\/strong><\/h2>\n

Le s\u00e9minaire du 6 mai 2024 a notamment r\u00e9uni Didier Samuel, pr\u00e9sident-directeur g\u00e9n\u00e9ral de l\u2019Inserm, Monika Frenzel, coordinatrice internationale de l\u2019Agence Nationale de la Recherche (ANR), et Wilfried Ellmeier, immunologiste \u00e0 l\u2019Universit\u00e9 de M\u00e9decine de Vienne (Autriche), en pr\u00e9sence de Matthieu Resche-Rigon, doyen de la Facult\u00e9 de Sant\u00e9, et de Philippe Ruszniewski, doyen de l\u2019UFR de M\u00e9decine de l\u2019Universit\u00e9 Paris Cit\u00e9. \u00c9taient \u00e9galement pr\u00e9sents trois pr\u00e9sidents fran\u00e7ais des soci\u00e9t\u00e9s savantes de recherche biom\u00e9dicale europ\u00e9ennes : Val\u00e9rie Comier-Daire pour l\u2019European Society of Human Genetics<\/em>, J\u00e9r\u00f4me Bertherat pour l\u2019European Society of Endocrinology <\/em>(ESE), et Elie Azoulay pour l\u2019European Society of Intensive Care Medecine<\/em> (ESCIM).<\/p>\n

Didier Samuel a pr\u00e9sent\u00e9 le mod\u00e8le fran\u00e7ais de recherche en sant\u00e9, un mod\u00e8le unique en Europe. Wilfried Ellmeier a propos\u00e9 une \u00e9valuation des programmes europ\u00e9ens de recherche, aux plans scientifique, soci\u00e9tal et politique. Monika Frenzel, quant \u00e0 elle, a d\u00e9velopp\u00e9 les enjeux du partenariat europ\u00e9en pour la m\u00e9decine personnalis\u00e9e. Forte de cette premi\u00e8re exp\u00e9rience et face \u00e0 la richesse des d\u00e9bats qui ont eu lieu le 6 juin dernier \u00e0 la Facult\u00e9 de Sant\u00e9, la Biomedical Alliance in Europe <\/em>a d\u00e9cid\u00e9 de renouveler p\u00e9riodiquement ses rencontres locales avec les acteurs de la recherche biom\u00e9dicale des \u00e9tats-membres de l\u2019Union Europ\u00e9enne. La prochaine visite devrait se tenir en Norv\u00e8ge, pendant la pr\u00e9sidence du Pr. Tom Hemming-Karlsen, actuellement pr\u00e9sident-elect.<\/p>\n
