As part of the ExcellenceS program, the Women’s Health Atrium of Universit\u00e9 Paris\u00a0<\/span>Cit\u00e9 is launching this call for applications to :<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

\u2022<\/span> Enable young researchers to set up and lead a group within a\u00a0<\/span>French research team affiliated to the Women’s Health Atrium of\u00a0<\/span>Universit\u00e9 Paris Cit\u00e9. The purpose of the group thus created will be\u00a0<\/span>to reinforce the host team’s research program by developing their\u00a0<\/span>own themes independently and collaboratively.<\/span><\/span>

Allocated resources\u00a0<\/span><\/span><\/h2>\n

A total of 360 k\u20ac will be allocated over 3 years, which can be spent on salaries, endowments and equipment. The salary for the non-permanent laureate is included in this budget (depending on experience). If the candidate already holds a position, the budget can be used to recruit staff to support the Chair (post-doc – engineer…). A welcome package of \u20ac50k may be offered. Applicants must identify a host team within the Universit\u00e9 Paris Cit\u00e9 perimeter, contact researchers from this team before submitting their application, and include a commitment to welcome in their application. The host team, affiliated to the IHM Sant\u00e9 des Femmes (list of affiliated teams at October 13, 2023 attached<\/a>) must provide the Chairholder with research premises compatible with the ambition of the proposed project (installation costs will be borne by the host team), and ensure access to the site’s technological platforms. The laureate agrees to take up his or her new position no later than November 1, 2024

Scope of the \u00ab\u00a0social inequalities in Maternal Health\u00a0\u00bb Chair<\/span><\/span><\/h2>\n

Context<\/span><\/span><\/h3>\n

Pregnancy and its immediate consequences represent a window of vulnerability and\u00a0<\/span>opportunity for women’s health, both in the short and long term. For several reasons,\u00a0<\/span>social inequalities in maternal health represent a particular public health issue, and\u00a0<\/span>more broadly, a societal issue. Firstly, because the perinatal period is a time when\u00a0<\/span>equal access to healthcare and social protection is considered a societal priority in<\/span>
most countries. Also, because close contact of women with medical and social\u00a0<\/span>services during this period can make it possible to implement interventions to reduce\u00a0<\/span>social inequalities in health. Finally, maternal health, through the impact it can have on\u00a0<\/span>children’s health, is likely to play a part in the intergenerational transmission of these\u00a0<\/span>inequalities.<\/span><\/span><\/div>\n


Key themes<\/span><\/span><\/h3>\n

The project presented may address all aspects of maternal health, both physical and\u00a0<\/span>mental, in the short or longer term. In particular, it will aim to:<\/span><\/span>
Characterize the dimensions of socio-demographic status associated with poorer\u00a0<\/span>maternal health: economic, marital, family and professional status, level of education;\u00a0<\/span>geographic origin, migratory status, administrative status; living environment and\u00a0<\/span>location.<\/span><\/span>
Understand the mechanisms of social inequalities in maternal health and their\u00a0<\/span>reproduction: territorial inequalities in health and access to quality care; health\u00a0<\/span>behaviors, health literacy; discrimination in care; capacity to act, gender relations,\u00a0<\/span>autonomy; and their interactions.<\/span><\/span>
Assess public policies or interventions aimed at reducing inequalities: emergence of\u00a0<\/span>new health systems and players; role of associations and civil society. This objective\u00a0<\/span>may involve international comparisons.<\/span><\/span><\/div>\n


Methodological approach<\/span><\/span><\/h3>\n

The theme may be addressed using qualitative and\/or quantitative methods; mixed\u00a0<\/span>approaches are encouraged. Study designs may be observational or interventional,\u00a0<\/span>based on data already collected or yet to be collected (feasibility to be demonstrated).\u00a0<\/span><\/span>An educational project related to the theme of the Chair is not required for this research\u00a0<\/span>Chair, but could be an asset.<\/span><\/span><\/div>\n
