Founded in 1898, The American Ceramic Society was formed at a convention of the National Brick Manufacturers\u2019 Association in Pittsburgh, Pa. It was there that several attendees banded together to talk about the scientific side of ceramics through a free exchange of ideas and research. Among the original founders were Elmer Gorton, Samuel Geijsbeek, Albert Bleininger, Edward Orton, Jr., Willard Richardson, Ellis Lovejoy, Gustav Holl, William Gates, and Carl Giessen.<\/span><\/p>\n

\u00a0<\/p>\n

Now, the Society has grown to more than 11,000 members consisting of scientists, engineers, researchers, manufacturers, plant personnel, educators, students, marketing, and sales professionals from more than 70 countries\u2014with 40% of members based outside of the United States.<\/span><\/p>\n

Today, the Society provides knowledge and forums to members who are shaping the way we think about materials science. From bricks, to cell phones and appliances, to space shuttle tiles and green technology, the members of the Society are leading advancements in ceramic technologies that keep people safe and warm, explore and discover new frontiers, and save lives. The American Ceramic Society is proud to be a conduit for these initiatives.<\/span><\/p>\n

The European Ceramic Society with the financial support of the JECS Trust wants to help European students to participate in the Winter Workshop organized by The American Ceramic Society from 21st to 23rd January 2022 at Hilton Daytona Beach – Oceanfront Resort Hotel in Daytona Beach, Florida (USA) by offering 15 grants.<\/span><\/p>\n

La soci\u00e9t\u00e9 compte maintenant plus de 11 000 membres, parmi lesquels des scientifiques, des ing\u00e9nieurs, des chercheurs, des industriels, du personnel d'usine, des \u00e9ducateurs, des \u00e9tudiants, des professionnels du marketing et de la vente de plus de 70 pays, dont 40 % sont bas\u00e9s hors des \u00c9tats-Unis.<\/span><\/p>

Aujourd'hui, la Soci\u00e9t\u00e9 fournit des connaissances et des forums \u00e0 ses membres qui fa\u00e7onnent la fa\u00e7on dont nous pensons la science des mat\u00e9riaux. Des briques aux t\u00e9l\u00e9phones portables et aux appareils \u00e9lectrom\u00e9nagers, en passant par les tuiles de la navette spatiale et les technologies vertes, les membres de la Soci\u00e9t\u00e9 sont \u00e0 l'origine de progr\u00e8s dans les technologies c\u00e9ramiques qui permettent aux gens de rester en s\u00e9curit\u00e9 et au chaud, d'explorer et de d\u00e9couvrir de nouvelles fronti\u00e8res et de sauver des vies.
