The project aims to study the new ways of organizing and producing technologies that characterize the new geographies of bio-technological innovation by analyzing vaccine and other immunebased products development for the so-called \u2018neglected diseases\u2019 in the Global South.<\/strong> The remarkably rapid pace of Covid-19 vaccine development has called into question the thesis
that the pharmaceutical industry is facing an \u201cinnovation crisis\u201d. The industry has demonstrated its capacity for innovative vaccines based on relevant biomedical technologies. However, the landscape of global pharmaceutical development is clearly in transformation, particularly with the emergence of Global South countries as new actors in the technological development and manufacture of health products. To grasp
how healthcare innovation is evolving, it is crucial to examine emergent forms of the knowledge production, flows of research, and developmental capital across old boundaries of north and south.<\/p>\n

The project focuses on the social, technological and political\/legal structures of the global market for biomedicines, the pharmaceutical products of the biotechnology industry.<\/strong> Access to these emerging medical technologies, largely developed in the North, is a major health and economic development issue that this project proposes to decipher around the issues of production, consumption and regulation covered by GRIP’s axis 3. The project is in line with the work on therapeutic mobility and circulation, which questions the production of socio-spatial inequalities in health, from a sociological and anthropological perspective.<\/strong> The subject of medical evacuations in the overseas territories is part of a reflection on therapeutic mobilities and circulations and the political conditions that frame them. The integration of Mayotte, one of the four islands of the Comoros archipelago, into the French territory in 2011 has resulted in migratory pressure from the other islands of the Comoros and in increasing control of mobility from them. For Comorians, however, reaching Mayotte is often the only way to access medical care, particularly for serious pathologies. However, the Mayotte hospital centre (CHM) suffers from a technical platform and medical staff that are largely understaffed. This is why people requiring care that cannot be provided locally are evacuated to Reunion Island. This medical evacuation system, or EVASAN system, is available to patients in a legal or illegal situation. In 2021, nearly 1,500 people were evacuated from Mayotte, 30% of whom were minors. For these minors, a parent is authorised to accompany them but this is not always possible due to various constraints: the presence of other dependent children in Mayotte, lack of financial support for the stay in Reunion, etc. The general objective of this research project is to understand the effects of this context (social, geopolitical, legal and institutional) on the trajectories of minors requiring care and their families<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

The PhD summer school in global history was launched in 2020 on the initiative of Christof Dejung (University of Bern), with the aim of bringing together specialists in history and global studies from the Circle U and The Guild networks: Aarhus, Bern, King’s College London, Oslo, Paris Cit\u00e9 and T\u00fcbingen. Cancelled in 2020 and 2021 due to the pandemic, it took place in 2022 hosted by the University of Aarhus, in the Sandjberg conference centre, with excellent results. In line with GRIP’s objectives and in line with the dynamics of the seminars already approved, the aim is to create a network of excellence of junior and senior researchers in global history, anchored in the ICT and CESSMA laboratories<\/strong>. The opening to interdisciplinary debates in social sciences is privileged. In 2023, the aim is also to initiate a collaboration with the African Research Universities Alliance by inviting African doctoral students, in connection with the active collaborations of each university. The ambition of the project is to analyse the articulation between institutional, organisational and territorial dynamics in globalisation through the critical study of corporate social responsibility (CSR) in the countries of the South.<\/strong> CSR puts two logics in tension: the market logic of profit-seeking and competition, on the one hand, and the civic logic relating to the societal mission pursued, on the other. Born in the countries of the North, the \u00ab\u00a0CSR movement\u00a0\u00bb has spread over the last few years on a global scale under the influence of multinational firms, global \u00ab\u00a0standards\u00a0\u00bb (e.g. Global Compact, ISO 26000) and also economic, ecological, energy and health crises. These multi-faceted crises have drawn attention to companies as both (i) a source of major risks; (ii) a stakeholder that is highly exposed to these risks and has a role to play in limiting their impact. The colloquium is the culmination of a two-year GRIP research seminar entitled: \u00ab\u00a0Global Histories: an entry through the sensitive\u00a0\u00bb<\/strong>. The conference will invite a double crossing. Firstly, the place of ‘Europe’ in global history, understood as the study of long-distance interconnections and including a series of approaches (connected and comparative, transnational, colonial, imperial, trans-imperial, etc.). It is also a history of non-European worlds whose own historicities in a long time span have been appreciated with greater finesse for the last forty years. Le projet porte sur les nouveaux modes d'organisation et de production des technologies qui caract\u00e9risent les nouvelles g\u00e9ographies de l'innovation biotechnologique<\/strong> en analysant le d\u00e9veloppement de vaccins et d'autres produits immunitaires pour les maladies dites \"n\u00e9glig\u00e9es\" dans les pays du Sud Global<\/em><\/strong>.<\/p>

Le rythme remarquablement rapide du d\u00e9veloppement du vaccin Covid-19 a remis en question la th\u00e8se selon laquelle l'industrie pharmaceutique est confront\u00e9e \u00e0 une \"crise de l'innovation\". L'industrie a d\u00e9montr\u00e9 sa capacit\u00e9 de vaccins innovants bas\u00e9s sur des technologies biom\u00e9dicales pertinentes.
Cependant, le paysage du d\u00e9veloppement pharmaceutique mondial est clairement en train de se transformer, notamment avec l'\u00e9mergence des pays du Sud Global<\/em> comme nouveaux acteurs du d\u00e9veloppement technologique comme nouveaux acteurs du d\u00e9veloppement et de la fabrication de produits de sant\u00e9. Pour comprendre l'\u00e9volution de l'innovation dans le domaine de la sant\u00e9, il est essentiel d'examiner les formes \u00e9mergentes de la production de connaissances, flux de recherche, et du capital de d\u00e9veloppement \u00e0 travers les anciennes fronti\u00e8res du nord et du sud.\u00a0<\/p>

Le projet porte sur les structures sociales, technologiques, et politico-le\u0301gales du march\u00e9 mondial des biom\u00e9dicaments, les produits pharmaceutiques issus de l\u2019industrie des biotechnologies<\/strong>. L\u2019acc\u00e8s a\u0300 ces technologies m\u00e9dicales \u00e9mergentes, largement d\u00e9velopp\u00e9es dans les Nords, est un enjeu de sante\u0301 et de d\u00e9veloppement \u00e9conomique majeur que ce projet propose de d\u00e9crypter autour des questions de production, de consommation, et de r\u00e9gulation<\/strong> port\u00e9es par l\u2019axe 3 du GRIP. Le projet consiste \u00e0 des enqu\u00eates de terrain exploratoires dans deux pays des BRICS : en Afrique du Sud et au Br\u00e9sil. Ces enqu\u00eates viennent compl\u00e9ter des recherches men\u00e9es \u00e0 Cuba et en Inde.\u00a0<\/p>

Le projet s\u2019inscrit dans la continuit\u00e9 des travaux sur les mobilit\u00e9s et circulations th\u00e9rapeutiques, qui interrogent la production des in\u00e9galit\u00e9s sociospatiales de sant\u00e9, dans une perspective sociologique et anthropologique.<\/strong>\u00a0Le sujet des \u00e9vacuations sanitaires dans les territoires d\u2019Outre-Mer s\u2019inscrit dans une r\u00e9flexion sur les mobilit\u00e9s et circulations th\u00e9rapeutiques et les conditions politiques qui les encadrent.
L\u2019int\u00e9gration de Mayotte, l\u2019une des quatre \u00eeles de l\u2019archipel des Comores, \u00e0 l\u2019ensemble du territoire fran\u00e7ais en 2011 s\u2019est traduite par une pression migratoire en provenance des autres \u00eeles des Comores et par un contr\u00f4le croissant des mobilit\u00e9s en provenance de celles-ci. Pour
les Comoriens, rejoindre Mayotte est pourtant souvent le seul moyen d\u2019acc\u00e9der \u00e0 des soins m\u00e9dicaux, en particulier pour des pathologies lourdes. Le centre hospitalier de Mayotte (CHM) souffre cependant d\u2019un plateau technique et d\u2019un personnel m\u00e9dical largement sous-dot\u00e9s.
C\u2019est pourquoi les personnes n\u00e9cessitant des soins non r\u00e9alisables sur place sont \u00e9vacu\u00e9es vers La R\u00e9union. Ce dispositif d\u2019\u00e9vacuation sanitaire ou dispositif EVASAN est accessible pour les patient.es en situation r\u00e9guli\u00e8re ou irr\u00e9guli\u00e8re. En 2021, ce sont pr\u00e8s de 1500 personnes qui ont \u00e9t\u00e9 \u00e9vacu\u00e9es au d\u00e9part de Mayotte, dont 30 % de personnes mineures. Pour ces mineur.es, l\u2019accompagnement par un parent est autoris\u00e9 mais n\u2019est pas toujours possible en raison de diverses contraintes : pr\u00e9sence d\u2019autres enfants \u00e0 charge \u00e0 Mayotte, absence de prise en charge financi\u00e8re du s\u00e9jour \u00e0 La R\u00e9union... Ces \u00e9vacuations sanitaires peuvent \u00eatre sources de ruptures familiales et biographiques pour les enfants malades et leurs proches.L\u2019objectif g\u00e9n\u00e9ral de ce projet de recherche est de comprendre les effets de ce contexte (social, g\u00e9opolitique, juridique et institutionnel) sur les trajectoires des mineur.es n\u00e9cessitant des soins et de leurs proches.<\/strong><\/p>

L\u2019\u00e9cole d\u2019\u00e9t\u00e9 doctorale en histoire globale a \u00e9t\u00e9 lanc\u00e9e en 2020 \u00e0 l\u2019initiative de Christof Dejung (Universit\u00e9 de Berne), avec le souhait de mettre en synergie les sp\u00e9cialistes d\u2019histoire et \u00e9tudes globale des r\u00e9seaux Circle U et The Guild : Aarhus, Bern, King's College London, Oslo, Paris Cit\u00e9 et T\u00fcbingen. Annul\u00e9e en 2020 et 2021 \u00e0 cause de la pand\u00e9mie, elle a eu lieu en 2022 \u00a0accueillie par l'universit\u00e9 d'Aarhus, dans le centre de conf\u00e9rences de Sandjberg<\/a>, avec d\u2019excellents r\u00e9sultats.\u00a0En r\u00e9sonance avec les objectifs du GRIP et dans la dynamique des s\u00e9minaires d\u00e9j\u00e0 labellis\u00e9s, l\u2019objectif est de cr\u00e9er un r\u00e9seau d\u2019excellence de chercheurs juniors et seniors en histoire globale, ancr\u00e9 dans les laboratoires ICT et CESSMA.<\/strong> L\u2019ouverture aux d\u00e9bats interdisciplinaires en sciences sociales est privil\u00e9gi\u00e9e. En 2023, il s\u2019agit aussi d\u2019initier une collaboration avec l\u2019African Research Universities Alliance<\/a> en invitant des doctorants africains, en lien avec les collaborations actives de chaque universit\u00e9.<\/p>

L\u2019ambition du projet est d\u2019analyser l\u2019articulation entre dynamiques institutionnelles, organisationnelles et territoriales dans la globalisation \u00e0 travers l\u2019\u00e9tude critique de la responsabilit\u00e9 soci\u00e9tale des entreprises (RSE) dans les pays du Sud<\/strong>. La RSE met sous tension deux logiques : la logique marchande de recherche de profits et de concurrence, d\u2019une part, et la logique civique relative \u00e0 la mission soci\u00e9tale poursuivie, d\u2019autre part. N\u00e9 dans les pays du Nord, le \u00ab mouvement RSE \u00bb s\u2019est propag\u00e9 depuis quelques ann\u00e9es \u00e0 l\u2019\u00e9chelle mondiale sous l\u2019influence des firmes multinationales, des \u00ab normes \u00bb globales (ex. Global compact, ISO 26 000) mais aussi des crises \u00e9conomiques, \u00e9cologiques, \u00e9nerg\u00e9tiques et sanitaires. Ces crises polymorphes ont attir\u00e9 l\u2019attention sur les entreprises \u00e0 la fois (i) comme une des sources de risques majeurs ; (ii) comme un acteur fortement expos\u00e9 \u00e0 ces risques et qui a un r\u00f4le \u00e0 jouer pour limiter leur impact.<\/p>

Le colloque est le point d\u2019aboutissement de deux ann\u00e9es d\u2019un s\u00e9minaire de recherche du GRIP intitul\u00e9 : \u00ab Histoires globales : une entr\u00e9e par le sensible \u00bb.<\/strong> Le colloque invitera \u00e0 un double croisement. Celui, d\u2019abord, de la place de l\u2019\u00ab Europe \u00bb dans l\u2019histoire globale, entendue comme l\u2019\u00e9tude des interconnexions de longue distance et incluant une s\u00e9rie d\u2019approches (connect\u00e9e et compar\u00e9e, transnationales, coloniale, imp\u00e9riale, transimp\u00e9riales\u2026). Celui aussi d\u2019une histoire des mondes extra-europ\u00e9ens dont les historicit\u00e9s propres dans un temps long, sont appr\u00e9ci\u00e9es avec plus de finesse depuis une quarantaine d\u2019ann\u00e9es. Si la seconde s\u2019est largement construite contre la premi\u00e8re et son grand r\u00e9cit de l\u2019occidentalisation, il est temps maintenant de proc\u00e9der \u00e0 des mises en relations plus situ\u00e9es et concr\u00e8tes entre les lieux - en consid\u00e9rant notamment l\u2019Europe comme une r\u00e9gion du monde parmi d\u2019autres de mieux en mieux connues.<\/p>
