It is worth asking whether cosmopolitanism can survive the critique of its allegiance to the Western hegemonic universal. The cosmopolitan approach is rooted in both normative and factual perspectives, all of which are embedded in the dialectic of Ego and Other, of the universal and the particular. On the basis of an abundant scientific literature, it is possible to postulate that cosmopolitanism, although originally Western in origin, far from reducing others to subalterns, makes possible an understanding of a plural <em>and <\/em>shared world. From the universal horizon of Humanity captured in its different forms of life and claims comes what we call \u00ab\u00a0everybody&rsquo;s cosmopolitanism\u00a0\u00bb (in reference to Gertrud Stein&rsquo;s book, \u00ab\u00a0Everybody&rsquo;s autobiography\u00a0\u00bb): these are forms of cosmopolitanism that draw the possibility of an inclusive and just world, precisely through the encounter with others and by submitting to the test of others, that is, by receiving their criticism.<\/p>\n<p>[\/et_pb_text][\/et_pb_column][et_pb_column type=\u00a0\u00bb1_4&Prime;][\/et_pb_column][\/et_pb_row][\/et_pb_section]<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<div class=\"et_pb_row et_pb_row_0 et_pb_row_empty\"><\/div>\n<p> This international conference and reference book project starts from the idea that cosmopolitanism is a situated cultural production, born of the European Enlightenment, which is guilty of perpetuating epistemic injustices and betraying its ultimate aspiration of inclusion. Il convient de se demander le cosmopolitisme peut survivre \u00e0 la critique de son inf\u00e9odation \u00e0 l\u2019universel h\u00e9g\u00e9monique occidental. Or l\u2019approche cosmopolite s\u2019ancre dans des perspectives aussi bien normatives que factuelles, qui toutes s\u2019inscrivent dans la dialectique d\u2019Ego et Autrui, de l\u2019universel et du particulier. C\u2019est \u00e0 partir d\u2019une abondante mati\u00e8re scientifique qu\u2019il est possible de postuler que, bien qu\u2019originairement de matrice occidentale, le cosmopolitisme, loin de ne r\u00e9duire les autres qu\u2019\u00e0 des subalternes rend possible une compr\u00e9hension d\u2019un monde pluriel et commun.
