Des d\u00e9cennies de recherches historiques et sociologiques nous ont enseign\u00e9 quelques le\u00e7ons simples : le savoir acad\u00e9mique est un artefact humain, il r\u00e9sulte de pratiques sociales et collectives, et il est toujours produit dans un lieu et \u00e0 un moment pr\u00e9cis. Pour comprendre et expliquer la circulation des connaissances acad\u00e9miques, il faut donc accorder une attention particuli\u00e8re aux processus de communication, au sens large du terme. Parmi les questions qui m\u00e9ritent aujourd’hui d’\u00eatre plus d\u00e9velopp\u00e9es, on peut citer : comment et pourquoi la connaissance circule-t-elle ? Comment pouvons-nous objectiver le fait que les connaissances circulent ? Comment la l\u00e9gitimit\u00e9 des connaissances change-t-elle lorsqu’elles circulent ? Qui y a acc\u00e8s et qui n’y a pas acc\u00e8s, et comment l’acc\u00e8s fa\u00e7onne-t-il la circulation ?
Le Handbook of Academic Knowledge Circulation<\/strong>, une publication en cours, est pens\u00e9 comme une contribution critique \u00e0 ces questions majeures en guidant notre compr\u00e9hension de la nature culturelle et politique de la science, des sciences sociales et de la technologie. Le manuel vise \u00e0 combler les lacunes existantes, mais aussi \u00e0 commencer \u00e0 r\u00e9fl\u00e9chir aux outils qui peuvent \u00eatre (ou ont d\u00e9j\u00e0 \u00e9t\u00e9, dans une perspective historique) utiles pour accro\u00eetre la circulation des connaissances.<\/p>\n

Decades of historical and sociological research have taught us some simple lessons: academic knowledge is a human artifact, it results from social and collective practices, and it is always produced in a specific place and at a particular time.\u00a0Understanding and explaining the circulation of academic knowledge therefore has to pay careful attention to communication processes, in the broad sense of the term.\u00a0\u00a0Among the questions that need further development nowadays, we can list how and why does knowledge circulate?\u00a0How can we objectify the fact that knowledge circulates? How does the legitimacy of knowledge change when it circulates? Who has and who does not have access to it, and how does access shape circulation?\u00a0<\/p>

The\u00a0Handbook of Academic Knowledge Circulation<\/strong>, a publication in process, is thought to be a critical contribution to these major questions by guiding our understanding of the cultural and political nature of science, social sciences and technology. The handbook aims to fill the existing gaps, but also to start thinking what tools can be (or already have been, in historical perspective) useful to increase knowledge circulation.\u00a0<\/p>
