Il n\u2019y a gu\u00e8re d\u2019activit\u00e9s aujourd\u2019hui dans le monde qui n\u2019utilisent pas ce qu\u2019elles appellent des\u00a0donn\u00e9es<\/strong>. Les\u00a0data<\/em>\u00a0sont partout et le fait que le terme se soit diffus\u00e9 bien au-del\u00e0 des\u00a0fronti\u00e8res de la science<\/strong>\u00a0est sans aucun doute un indice de la\u00a0valeur symbolique<\/strong>\u00a0dont elles sont cr\u00e9dit\u00e9es en particulier aupr\u00e8s de la\u00a0classe dirigeante<\/strong>\u00a0(qui ne les consid\u00e8re n\u00e9anmoins pas sans ambigu\u00eft\u00e9s).<\/p>\n Mais, \u00e0 y regarder de plus pr\u00e8s, le cr\u00e9dit des\u00a0data<\/em>\u00a0ne tient pas seulement \u00e0 la r\u00e9f\u00e9rence implicite \u00e0 la l\u00e9gitimit\u00e9 savante. \u00c0 l\u2019heure o\u00f9 l\u2019accroissement continu des nouvelles technologies repousse toujours un peu plus loin les limites de stockage et de calcul, les\u00a0GAFAM<\/strong>\u00a0(Google, Apple, Facebook, Amazon, Microsoft) ont pr\u00e9empt\u00e9 depuis longtemps d\u00e9j\u00e0 le domaine de la\u00a0data<\/em>\u00a0: \u00e9quip\u00e9es de l\u2019\u00e9pist\u00e9mologie spontan\u00e9e<\/strong>\u00a0des\u00a0data sciences\u00a0<\/em><\/strong>(positiviste et relativiste) qu\u2019implique une appropriation strictement instrumentale des techniques statistiques et informatiques, ils n\u2019ont eu de cesse d\u2019\u00e9tendre leur emprise (algorithmes de tri et de classement, \u00e9conomie de plateforme, longue tra\u00eene, etc.) du\u00a0secteur priv\u00e9<\/strong>\u00a0au\u00a0secteur public<\/strong>\u00a0(et, pour ce dernier, de l\u2019administration \u00e0 l\u2019enseignement et la recherche).<\/p>\n Face \u00e0 un\u00a0capitalisme num\u00e9rique<\/strong>\u00a0en plein essor, explorer le\u00a0champ de la\u00a0data<\/em><\/strong>\u00a0sur la base de ses diff\u00e9rents enjeux et impens\u00e9s s\u2019av\u00e8re donc tout \u00e0 fait imp\u00e9rieux et c\u2019est ce \u00e0 quoi voudrait contribuer le s\u00e9minaire \u00ab La science \u00e0 l\u2019\u00e9preuve des donn\u00e9es \u00bb.<\/p>\n Il s\u2019agira ici d\u2019insister dans une\u00a0logique pluridisciplinaire<\/strong>\u00a0sur les principes les mieux \u00e0 m\u00eame de consolider une science des donn\u00e9es :<\/p>\n 1\/ Cette science des donn\u00e9es est n\u00e9cessairement historique et \u00e9pist\u00e9mologique. Inscrire les donn\u00e9es dans leurs\u00a0conditions de possibilit\u00e9<\/strong>\u00a0permet de se pr\u00e9munir de l\u2019illusion de \u00ab\u00a0la radicale nouveaut\u00e9\u00a0\u00bb ou de \u00ab\u00a0la reproduction \u00e0 l\u2019identique\u00a0\u00bb<\/p>\n 2\/ Elle impose une\u00a0r\u00e9flexivit\u00e9<\/strong>\u00a0accrue dans tous les gestes li\u00e9s \u00e0 la manipulation des donn\u00e9es.
