Le \u00ab myst\u00e8re \u00bb entre v\u00e9ritablement en litt\u00e9rature narrative avec le gothique et le fantastique. Il renvoie alors \u00e0 l\u2019irrationalit\u00e9, \u00e0 une d\u00e9stabilisation des cat\u00e9gories \u00e9tablies. Mais il serait r\u00e9ducteur de l\u2019assimiler \u00e0 cette seule dimension, tant le mot devient rapidement un talisman pour susciter la curiosit\u00e9 du lecteur avide de s\u2019ouvrir \u00e0 l\u2019inconnu, \u00e0 l\u2019envers de la modernit\u00e9, aux secrets criminels. Le \u00ab myst\u00e8re \u00bb, pour qui s\u2019int\u00e9resse \u00e0 la litt\u00e9rature du dix-neuvi\u00e8me et du d\u00e9but du vingti\u00e8me si\u00e8cles, c\u2019est alors un mot bien \u00e9trange, \u00e0 la fois omnipr\u00e9sent et \u00e9vanescent, comme inapte \u00e0 se muer en un v\u00e9ritable objet litt\u00e9raire en m\u00eame temps qu\u2019il peut aller \u00e0 l\u2019occasion jusqu\u2019\u00e0 recouvrir une port\u00e9e g\u00e9n\u00e9rique. Il ouvre d\u2019ailleurs \u00e0 tous les retournements, allant jusqu\u2019\u00e0 occuper une place importante dans le roman policier \u00e9mergent. En revenir \u00e0 l\u2019histoire de ce mot, \u00e0 la mani\u00e8re dont il s\u2019est insinu\u00e9 dans le roman tout en gardant certains traits h\u00e9rit\u00e9s de son histoire religieuse, \u00e0 la fa\u00e7on dont il a pu se constituer, dans le contexte de la culture m\u00e9diatique, en lieu de tension dans le texte, et particuli\u00e8rement dans le texte policier qu\u2019il travaille de r\u00e9sonances secr\u00e8tes et diverses, tel est l\u2019objet de cette \u00e9tude.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n
