\u00c0 travers l\u2019\u0153uvre foisonnante et ludique d\u2019une cin\u00e9aste, qui comprend photographies, albums, courts et longs m\u00e9trages, de documentaire comme de fiction, pour le cin\u00e9ma, la t\u00e9l\u00e9vision, l\u2019\u00e9dition artisanale de DVD et les installations audiovisuelles, cet ouvrage d\u00e9taille la \u00ab\u202fm\u00e9thode Varda\u202f\u00bb que la cin\u00e9aste nomme cin\u00e9criture. Entre analyse textuelle et approche comparatiste dans la tradition de l\u2019ut pictura poesis, ces analyses organis\u00e9es en cinq ma\u00eetres mots \u2013 cin\u00e9crire, r\u00e9fl\u00e9chir, se r\u00e9fl\u00e9chir, r\u00eaver et bricoler \u2013 nous invitent \u00e0 reconsid\u00e9rer la nature du geste du cin\u00e9aste\u2009: comme une dialectique mat\u00e9rialiste de l\u2019imaginaire h\u00e9rit\u00e9e de Bachelard dans laquelle la mise en sc\u00e8ne du couple, \u00e0 la mani\u00e8re des paysages avec figures en peinture, constitue une all\u00e9gorie de la cr\u00e9ation\u2009; comme une po\u00ef\u00e9thique cin\u00e9matographique, qui concilie le faire et le dire, l\u2019approche sensible et spirituelle d\u2019un monde dans lequel l\u2019alt\u00e9rit\u00e9, y compris artistique, est constitutive du soi\u2009; comme l\u2019\u00e9criture enfin d\u2019un mouvement \u00e0 rechercher dans la profondeur d\u2019une image, sans cesse recycl\u00e9e, dont le film reconstruit la qu\u00eate au terme d\u2019un bris-collage qui se scande en trois temps de prise, de reprise et de surprise.<\/p>\n
