En d\u00e9pit du pouvoir d\u2019attraction des grands centres, un cadre plus familier \u00e9tait offert aux Grecs par les cit\u00e9s de moindre envergure, dans leur r\u00e9gion ou des r\u00e9gions voisines. Ces centres plus accessibles jouaient un r\u00f4le essentiel dans la circulation des ma\u00eetres et des disciples. La polarisation se faisait autour des \u00e9coles (rh\u00e9toriques, math\u00e9matiques, m\u00e9dicales), des institutions ou bien des personnalit\u00e9s remarquables, les fameux andres axiologoi kata paideian<\/em> mentionn\u00e9s par Strabon.<\/p>\n

La g\u00e9ographie intellectuelle de Strabon nous servira de guide. Si le g\u00e9ographe laisse de c\u00f4t\u00e9 les grands centres comme Ath\u00e8nes, Alexandrie ou Rome, c\u2019est pour concentrer ses notes biographiques sur l\u2019Asie Mineure, sa patrie culturelle. Strabon fait ainsi l\u2019\u00e9loge de plusieurs cit\u00e9s, micrasiatiques, comme Mytil\u00e8ne, Rhodes, \u00c9ph\u00e8se, Lampsaque, Tralles, Halicarnasse, Pergame, Tarse ou Nysa, son propre centre de formation, qui a b\u00e9n\u00e9fici\u00e9 d\u2019une attention sp\u00e9ciale dans cette entreprise de \u00ab\u00a0d\u00e9centralisation\u00a0\u00bb et de mise en avant des centres r\u00e9gionaux d\u2019Asie Mineure.<\/p>\n

Le paradoxe est que l\u2019\u00e9clat local de la vie culturelle \u00e9tait donn\u00e9 par l\u2019ampleur de la mobilit\u00e9 et des r\u00e9seaux dont la cit\u00e9 b\u00e9n\u00e9ficiait. Le globalisme n\u2019exclut pas le localisme, au contraire, les diff\u00e9rents visages du local, et tout particuli\u00e8rement intellectuels, \u00e9mergent et sont nourris par la large diffusion des pratiques et des savoirs qui caract\u00e9risent les \u00e9poques hell\u00e9nistique et imp\u00e9riale.\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n

Cette intervention portera sur la place de la petite plastique et d\u2019images associ\u00e9es dans l\u2019analyse des soci\u00e9t\u00e9s de la vall\u00e9e du Nil et ses marges, de la conqu\u00eate d\u2019Alexandre \u00e0 l\u2019Antiquit\u00e9 tardive.<\/p>

Champ d\u2019investigation consid\u00e9rable et cela \u00e0 plusieurs titres, le corpus des figurines fournit des r\u00e9f\u00e9rences iconographiques et techniques enracin\u00e9es dans le fonds vernaculaire de l\u2019\u00c9gypte ancienne tout en b\u00e9n\u00e9ficiant d\u2019apports grecs qui vont en modifier la forme et l\u2019usage, puis, dans une moindre mesure, romains.<\/p>

D\u2019o\u00f9 une certaine diversit\u00e9 iconographique et des signes d\u2019hybridit\u00e9, ce qui pose in\u00e9vitablement la question de l\u2019identit\u00e9 des fabricants et des \u00ab\u00a0consommateurs\u00a0\u00bb de terres cuites, de leur appartenance culturelle, celle de la d\u00e9termination ou non d\u2019un multiculturalisme, en particulier \u00e0 la p\u00e9riode ptol\u00e9ma\u00efque \u00e0 Alexandrie et dans la ch\u00f4ra<\/em>, qui montrent des faci\u00e8s contrast\u00e9s, questions auxquelles nous tenterons de r\u00e9pondre.<\/p><\/div><\/div><\/div>
