Conditions g\u00e9n\u00e9rales<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Le projet-tuteur, tel qu\u2019approuv\u00e9 par la fondation Balzan, est joint en annexe au pr\u00e9sent appel d\u2019offres, et constitue la base scientifique et m\u00e9thodologique sur laquelle seront choisis les candidats ou candidates. Il s\u2019agit, comme le titre l\u2019indique, de mener \u00e0 bien des travaux s\u2019inscrivant dans une recherche globale sur l\u2019esth\u00e9tique de l\u2019image mouvante, apr\u00e8s la r\u00e9volution num\u00e9rique mais dans la continuit\u00e9 de certains probl\u00e8mes classiques.<\/p>\n<p>Les trois axes de recherche distingu\u00e9s, autour des intitul\u00e9s <i>Le pixel<\/i>, <i>Le d\u00e9tail <\/i>et <i>Le pr\u00e9sent<\/i>, sont donn\u00e9s \u00e0 titre indicatif. Les travaux projet\u00e9s par les candidats pourront s\u2019y rattacher ou relever de propositions diff\u00e9rentes, pourvu qu\u2019elles s\u2019inscrivent dans la perspective d\u2019ensemble du projet\u00a0: une r\u00e9flexion actuelle sur l\u2019esth\u00e9tique du film et des images en mouvement. Il pourra s\u2019agir de travaux sp\u00e9culatifs et th\u00e9oriques, ou historiques, et ils pourront comporter \u00e9ventuellement une partie de r\u00e9alisation pratique (sous forme de film, d\u2019installation, de site web, d\u2019essai vid\u00e9o, de projet d\u2019exposition, etc.)<\/p>\n<p>Les objets de recherche, non plus que les m\u00e9thodes employ\u00e9es, ne sont pas d\u00e9finis a priori. Il appartiendra \u00e0 chacun et chacune des candidats de dire tr\u00e8s pr\u00e9cis\u00e9ment comment il ou elle entend contribuer \u00e0 une r\u00e9flexion sur l\u2019un ou plusieurs de ces trois axes, ou sur quel autre objet ou type d\u2019objets, et selon quelle proc\u00e9dure. La r\u00e9flexion devra, dans sa vis\u00e9e et ses r\u00e9sultats, apporter des id\u00e9es neuves en territoire esth\u00e9tique, mais elle pourra mobiliser d\u2019autres disciplines, telles l\u2019histoire de l\u2019art, l\u2019histoire des techniques, l\u2019anthropologie culturelle, la philosophie, la s\u00e9miotique, la th\u00e9orie des m\u00e9dias\u2026 On trouvera des exemples de travaux, r\u00e9alis\u00e9s ou en cours, sur le site cinema-esth\u00e9tique.org.<\/p>\n<p>Le jury s\u00e9lectionnera de six \u00e0 dix propositions, qui lui sembleront les plus prometteuses et le plus en accord avec le principe et la vis\u00e9e du projet. Le choix final sera fait, apr\u00e8s entretiens oraux en visioconf\u00e9rence avec les candidats et candidates pr\u00e9s\u00e9lectionn\u00e9s, par le comit\u00e9 restreint dirigeant le projet, et qui comprend, outre Jacques Aumont, les professeurs Emmanuelle Andr\u00e9 (Universit\u00e9 Paris Cit\u00e9) et Antonio Somaini (Universit\u00e9 Sorbonne Nouvelle<s>)<\/s>.<\/p>\n<p>Les boursiers rel\u00e8veront directement de l\u2019autorit\u00e9 de ce comit\u00e9 dirigeant, et \u00e0 travers lui, de la Fondation Balzan. Ils ne seront pas rattach\u00e9s \u00e0 un laboratoire universitaire et n\u2019auront \u00e0 rendre de comptes qu\u2019au comit\u00e9.<\/p>\n<p><strong>II. Participation aux travaux li\u00e9s au projet global<\/strong><br \/>En plus du projet de recherche personnel sur lequel ils auront \u00e9t\u00e9 s\u00e9lectionn\u00e9s, les chercheurs prendront part aux activit\u00e9s engag\u00e9es dans le cadre du projet <i>L\u2019Esth\u00e9tique au pr\u00e9sent<\/i>. \u00c0 concurrence du tiers de leur temps de travail au maximum, ils contribueront notamment \u00e0 l\u2019organisation et \u00e0 la r\u00e9alisation des ateliers, rencontres, journ\u00e9es d\u2019\u00e9tude programm\u00e9s, et \u00e0 l\u2019enrichissement des supports de communication (site web, plaquettes ou documents de pr\u00e9sentation).<\/p>\n<p>Il est pr\u00e9cis\u00e9 que, le salaire correspondant \u00e0 un temps plein, on s\u2019attend que les deux candidats ou candidates retenus consacrent effectivement leur temps de travail \u00e0 leur recherche.<\/p>\n<p><strong>VII. R\u00e9sultats attendus<\/strong><br \/>\u2013 les candidats s\u2019engagent,\u00a0<strong>sous peine de remboursement de l\u2019int\u00e9gralit\u00e9 des sommes per\u00e7ues<\/strong>, \u00e0 rendre, au 31\/08\/2022, un travail de recherche \u00e9crit. Ce travail pourra prendre la forme d\u2019un ou plusieurs articles pr\u00eats \u00e0 \u00eatre publi\u00e9s, de pr\u00e9f\u00e9rence d\u00e9j\u00e0 soumis \u00e0 une publication (avec comit\u00e9 de lecture), ou d\u2019un ou plusieurs chapitres d\u2019un ouvrage \u00e0 venir. The project entails, as indicated in the title, the undertaking of a broad-based research project on the aesthetics of the moving image since the digital revolution but in line with certain classical problematics.<\/p>\n<p>Three possible research axes are proposed:\u00a0<i>The Pixel<\/i>,\u00a0<i>The Detail<\/i>, and\u00a0<i>The Present<\/i>. Proposals may fit within one or more of these axes, but candidates may also submit projects on related topics insofar as they align with the aims and point of view of the flagship project: a contemporary reflection on the aesthetics of film and of moving images. Projects may consist in speculative, theoretical, or historical research, and they may, under some circumstances, include practical components (in the form of a film, an art installation, a website, a audiovisual essay, an exhibition, etc.).<\/p>\n<p>Research objects, as well as methodologies, are open. It will be the task of each candidate to precisely define the parameters of their contribution to a larger reflection on one or more of the three proposed research axes, and to outline the object(s) of inquiry and methodologies being used. This reflection should, in both its aims and results, lead to new ideas in the field of aesthetics, but it may also involve other disciplines such as art history, the history of technology, cultural anthropology, philosophy, semiotics, media theory, etc.<\/p>\n<p>Project proposals will undergo a two-phase selection process. During the first round of selection, an international committee will narrow the pool of candidates down to the six to ten proposals deemed most promising and most in-line with the principles and goals of the project. These candidates will then be interviewed by the project\u2019s steering committee, including Prof. Jacques Aumont, Prof. Emmanuelle Andr\u00e9 (Universit\u00e9 Paris Diderot), and Prof. Antonio Somaini (Universit\u00e9 Paris Sorbonne Nouvelle).<\/p>\n<p>Hired fellows will report directly to this steering committee, and via the committee, to the Balzan Foundation. This text will take the form of either one or more articles ready to be submitted or already submitted to peer-reviewed academic journals, or of one or more chapters for a forthcoming book. The project entails, as indicated in the title, the undertaking of a broad-based research project on the aesthetics of the moving image since the digital revolution but in line with certain classical problematics.<\/p><p>Three possible research axes are proposed:\u00a0<i>The Pixel<\/i>,\u00a0<i>The Detail<\/i>, and\u00a0<i>The Present<\/i>. Proposals may fit within one or more of these axes, but candidates may also submit projects on related topics insofar as they align with the aims and point of view of the flagship project: a contemporary reflection on the aesthetics of film and of moving images. Projects may consist in speculative, theoretical, or historical research, and they may, under some circumstances, include practical components (in the form of a film, an art installation, a website, a audiovisual essay, an exhibition, etc.).<\/p><p>Research objects, as well as methodologies, are open. It will be the task of each candidate to precisely define the parameters of their contribution to a larger reflection on one or more of the three proposed research axes, and to outline the object(s) of inquiry and methodologies being used. This reflection should, in both its aims and results, lead to new ideas in the field of aesthetics, but it may also involve other disciplines such as art history, the history of technology, cultural anthropology, philosophy, semiotics, media theory, etc.<\/p><p>Project proposals will undergo a two-phase selection process. During the first round of selection, an international committee will narrow the pool of candidates down to the six to ten proposals deemed most promising and most in-line with the principles and goals of the project.
