L\u2019histoire des sciences antiques fournit aujourd\u2019hui, un peu partout sur la plan\u00e8te, des ressources pour promouvoir des d\u00e9clarations et des revendications \u00e0 caract\u00e8re identitaire. J\u2019\u00e9voquerai un exemple contemporain, o\u00f9 l\u2019on voit comment les sciences antiques sont mises \u00e0 profit pour affirmer l\u2019existence d\u2019une opposition entre Orient et Occident dans la pratique des sciences. Mon expos\u00e9 se concentrera ensuite sur l\u2019histoire des nombres dans l\u2019Antiquit\u00e9, en vue de mettre en \u00e9vidence comment des hypoth\u00e8ses tacites et des m\u00e9thodes historiographiques discutables ont contribu\u00e9 \u00e0 imposer les \u00ab\u00a0peuples\u00a0\u00bb ou les \u00ab\u00a0civilisations\u00a0\u00bb comme acteurs centraux de cette histoire.
