Programme initi\u00e9 et pr\u00e9par\u00e9 par Carole Boidin, Tristan Mauffrey, Maxime Pierre et Antoine Pietrobelli<\/p>\n

L\u2019Antiquit\u00e9 gr\u00e9co-romaine a souvent \u00e9t\u00e9 instrumentalis\u00e9e pour \u00e9crire des histoires nationales, imp\u00e9rialistes, et m\u00eame les \u00e9tudes postcoloniales offrent des exemples de nouvelles instrumentalisations. Les empires ont l\u00e9gitim\u00e9 leur domination par l\u2019exemple grec ou romain, tandis que les nationalismes europ\u00e9ens ou plus tard des \u00e9tats d\u00e9colonis\u00e9s se sont invent\u00e9 des anc\u00eatres pr\u00e9romains (Gaulois, Germains, Celtib\u00e8res, Berb\u00e8res, Ph\u00e9niciens, etc.), ce qui revenait \u00e0 faire de la Gr\u00e8ce et de Rome le double \u00e9picentre \u2013 et l\u2019origine implicite \u2013 de leur histoire commune. Notre projet est d\u2019opposer \u00e0 ces grands r\u00e9cits identitaires, une Antiquit\u00e9-monde polycentr\u00e9e. L\u2019empire grec d\u2019Alexandre, les royaumes hell\u00e9nistiques puis l\u2019empire romain furent des espaces pluriculturels, pacifi\u00e9s et, pour ce qui est de Rome, englobant l\u2019ensemble du monde connu. \u00c0 l\u2019oppos\u00e9 de la th\u00e9orie du \u00ab\u00a0choc des civilisations\u00a0\u00bb, il est possible d\u2019envisager ces mondes anciens comme des lieux de perm\u00e9abilit\u00e9 et de fluidit\u00e9 interculturelles. Les Grecs et les Romains furent en interaction permanente avec leurs voisins \u00e9gyptiens, puniques, perses, scythes ou indiens. Ce que nous d\u00e9signons comme grec ou romain est toujours un objet ambivalent qui est le fruit d\u2019une rencontre ou le r\u00e9sultat de m\u00e9tissages.<\/p>\n

Dans cette perspective d\u00e9centr\u00e9e, le grec et le latin sont une ouverture sur une Antiquit\u00e9-monde.\u00a0 Les textes des historiens, g\u00e9ographes, ethnographes anciens, mais aussi des po\u00e8tes et des orateurs ainsi que les sources ethnographiques et arch\u00e9ologiques permettent de d\u00e9s-europ\u00e9aniser l\u2019h\u00e9ritage gr\u00e9co-romain. De cette approche mondialis\u00e9e d\u00e9coule une attention particuli\u00e8re \u00e0 la question des syncr\u00e9tismes, transferts, hybridations, fusions et reconfigurations culturelles dans les pratiques et dans les discours.\u00a0<\/p>\n

D\u00e9centrer les \u00e9tudes anciennes en les d\u00e9s-europ\u00e9anisant, suppose de pr\u00eater l\u2019oreille \u00e0 la mani\u00e8re dont on parle aujourd\u2019hui de cette Antiquit\u00e9 depuis l\u2019Afrique, l\u2019Inde, la Chine ou le Japon : quelles images s\u2019y fait-on des Grecs et des Romains et quels usages en fait-on ? Comment notre propre regard s\u2019en trouve-t-il chang\u00e9\u00a0?<\/p>\n
