Le Paris Centre for Narrative Matters est le r\u00e9sultat d\u2019un travail collaboratif men\u00e9 pendant pr\u00e8s de trois ans entre Sylvie Patron<\/strong>, ma\u00eetresse de conf\u00e9rences habilit\u00e9e \u00e0 diriger des recherches \u00e0 l\u2019Universit\u00e9 Paris Cit\u00e9, et Brian Schiff<\/strong>, alors ma\u00eetre de conf\u00e9rences, \u00e0 pr\u00e9sent professeur et directeur du d\u00e9partement de psychologie de l\u2019American University of Paris, pour la conception, l\u2019organisation et la publication de deux congr\u00e8s internationaux :<\/p>\n Le Paris Centre for Narrative Matters a \u00e9t\u00e9 cr\u00e9\u00e9 en septembre 2014<\/strong> et ses travaux ont commenc\u00e9 sous la forme d\u2019une s\u00e9rie de conf\u00e9rences et d\u2019\u00e9v\u00e9nements organis\u00e9s en alternance \u00e0 l\u2019Universit\u00e9 Paris Cit\u00e9 et \u00e0 l\u2019American University of Paris, de la signature d\u2019une convention pour l\u2019\u00e9change d\u2019\u00e9tudiants, ainsi que de trois d\u00e9p\u00f4t de projets.<\/p>\n Le Paris Centre for Narrative Matters est depuis d\u00e9cembre 2019 et jusqu\u2019\u00e0 d\u00e9cembre 2022 un projet <\/strong>ANR-18-IDEX-0001, IdEx UPC<\/strong>, port\u00e9 par Sylvie Patron.<\/p>\n Le Paris Centre for Narrative Matters propose des actions de recherche interdisciplinaires bas\u00e9es sur l\u2019\u00e9tude des pratiques et des th\u00e9ories du r\u00e9cit<\/strong>, qu\u2019il s\u2019agisse de r\u00e9cits de la vie quotidienne ou de r\u00e9cits litt\u00e9raires et plus g\u00e9n\u00e9ralement d\u2019\u0153uvres narratives dans diff\u00e9rents\u00a0m\u00e9dia. Il encourage particuli\u00e8rement l\u2019interaction entre les disciplines du \u00ab tournant narratif \u00bb (psychologie, sociologie, sciences de l\u2019\u00e9ducation, etc.) et la narratologie contemporaine.<\/strong><\/p>\n Dans l\u2019introduction de l\u2019ouvrage Life and Narrative <\/em>: The Risks and Responsibilities of Storying Experience<\/em>, publi\u00e9 \u00e0 la suite du congr\u00e8s Narrative Matters 2012<\/em>, Brian Schiff, A. Elizabeth McKim et Sylvie Patron \u00e9crivent\u00a0:<\/p>\n \u00ab\u00a0This volume is a step away from the mutual indifference that currently characterizes narrative in the social sciences and the humanities. It is our hope that it will stimulate a conversation that will inspire scholars to read and contemplate the cutting-edge research and theorizing across the disciplinary divide. The conversation does not require a direction. But, certainly, one of the ways that the conversation could go is to sharpen the terminology that we use. The social sciences could clearly benefit from adopting some of the more precise language of narratology. And literary studies could benefit from a more capacious view of narrating as an interpretative process embedded in life, relationships, and culture.<\/em><\/p>\n But the conversation does not need to stop there. There are real opportunities to work in a truly interdisciplinary way: to approach texts and lives with the tools for narrative analysis developed in the social sciences and literary studies that could benefit our understanding of both.
