Le Mus\u00e9e Guimet \u00e0 Paris (Mus\u00e9e national des arts asiatiques) pr\u00e9sente du 17 mai au 18 septembre 2023 l\u2019exposition \u00ab\u00a0M\u00e9decines d\u2019Asie, l\u2019art de l\u2019\u00e9quilibre\u00a0<\/a>\u00bb. Il s\u2019agit de la premi\u00e8re exposition majeure consacr\u00e9e en France aux trois grandes traditions m\u00e9dicales asiatiques (indienne, chinoise et tib\u00e9taine). et une quarantaine d\u2019\u00e9chantillons de mati\u00e8re m\u00e9dicale\u2026 Ces \u0153uvres apportent un \u00e9clairage nouveau sur le contexte et la mani\u00e8re dont les savoirs m\u00e9dicaux venus d\u2019Orient et d\u2019Occident se rencontrent et s\u2019enrichissent mutuellement depuis le XVIe si\u00e8cle. Elles illustrent deux des quatre grands parcours que le visiteur est invit\u00e9 \u00e0 suivre. Le premier parcours intitul\u00e9 \u00ab\u00a0Orient et Occident : le dialogue des contraires\u00a0\u00bb <\/strong>prend place parmi de pr\u00e9cieux ouvrages encyclop\u00e9diques pr\u00e9sent\u00e9s dans une sc\u00e9nographie rappelant l\u2019ambiance des biblioth\u00e8ques anciennes. Les documents pr\u00eat\u00e9s par l\u2019universit\u00e9 m\u00ealent entre autres un monumental trait\u00e9 botanique du XVIIe si\u00e8cle sur les propri\u00e9t\u00e9s m\u00e9dicinales de la flore de la c\u00f4te de Malabar, des extraits du Pen-ts\u2019ao<\/em>, recueil de mati\u00e8re m\u00e9dicale chez les Chinois (plantes, min\u00e9raux et animaux), le premier ouvrage illustr\u00e9 sur la m\u00e9decine chinoise publi\u00e9 en Europe en 1682 ou encore la premi\u00e8re traduction en n\u00e9erlandais du Shinky\u00fb goku-hiden<\/em> (La Tradition tr\u00e8s secr\u00e8te de l\u2019acupuncture et de la moxibustion<\/em>), due \u00e0 Isaac Titsingh, un passeur essentiel entre l\u2019Europe et le Japon \u00e0 la fin du XVIIIe si\u00e8cle.<\/p>\n Le deuxi\u00e8me parcours auquel le pr\u00eat contribue met en sc\u00e8ne une \u00ab\u00a0apothicairerie id\u00e9ale\u00a0\u00bb <\/strong>et pr\u00e9sente la pharmacop\u00e9e, l\u2019acupuncture et la moxibustion. Les objets pr\u00eat\u00e9s sont un mannequin en pl\u00e2tre et carton laqu\u00e9 sur lequel sont figur\u00e9s des points d\u2019acupuncture (mannequin Tso\u00eb-Bosi, XVIIIe si\u00e8cle), des aiguilles et des porte-moxas ainsi que des plantes m\u00e9dicinales de la pharmacop\u00e9e traditionnelle. On retrouve certaines de ces plantes dans les trait\u00e9s de mati\u00e8re m\u00e9dicale europ\u00e9ens d\u00e8s le XVIe si\u00e8cle, sans que leurs auteurs aient n\u00e9cessairement voyag\u00e9 au-del\u00e0 des confins de l\u2019Europe occidentale ou m\u00eame pu observer les plantes en question. Castor Durante, m\u00e9decine, botaniste et po\u00e8te italien, publie en 1585 une Collection de plantes m\u00e9dicinales d\u2019Europe, d\u2019Am\u00e9rique et d\u2019Asie<\/em>, richement illustr\u00e9e. Peint en 1842 et d\u2019une longueur de dix-huit m\u00e8tres environ, il d\u00e9taille les r\u00e9sultats de la dissection anatomique d\u2019un supplici\u00e9.<\/strong> Ces dessins accompagn\u00e9s de l\u00e9gendes en caract\u00e8res chinois montrent essentiellement la morphologie interne et externe du cadavre, celle de tous les organes et la coupe de certains d\u2019entre eux.<\/p>\n L\u2019exposition de ce rouleau, tr\u00e8s rarement montr\u00e9 jusqu\u2019ici, d\u00e9roul\u00e9 dans une vitrine sur une dizaine de m\u00e8tres, lui assure une visibilit\u00e9 in\u00e9dite.
